How to install
Change it in two minutes
- Open the cover. Flip up the filter cover in the top-right corner of the fresh-food compartment.
- Remove the old filter. Turn the square cartridge counter-clockwise and pull it straight out.
- Twist in the R-8006-S. Insert it and turn clockwise until it locks.
- Reset and flush. Reset the filter light, then run the dispenser for 3 to 5 minutes (about 2.5 gallons) and discard that water. A cloudy first glass is harmless carbon dust.

How do I know it fits my fridge?
Look at the filter you are replacing. If it says HAF-QIN, HAF-QIN/EXP, DA97-17376B or DA97-08006C, the R-8006-S fits. It is made for Samsung French door, 4-door and side-by-side fridges that use the square HAF-QIN cartridge. Use the model checker above, or contact us with your model number before you order.
How often should I change it?
Every 6 months or 300 gallons, whichever comes first. That is the interval your Samsung filter light counts down. If the dispenser slows or the taste changes earlier, the carbon block is full and it is time to swap.
Why is my first glass of water cloudy?
That is harmless carbon dust from the new block. Run the dispenser for 3 to 5 minutes (about 2.5 gallons) and discard that water before you drink it.
What is it certified for?
IAPMO R&T certifies the R-8006 to NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine, taste and odor reduction and to NSF/ANSI 372 for lead-free materials. For certified lead and mercury reduction, choose the Refresh R-8006 Plus (NSF 53), which fits the same way.
Will it fit the round Samsung HAF-CIN filter?
No. The HAF-CIN / DA29-00020B is a different, round cartridge. Use the Refresh R-9101 for those fridges, and the Refresh R-0003 for DA29-00003G / HAFCU1.
